So Many Lighters

.

So many lighters
But, no spark
Cigarette dangles from my painted lips waiting for a flame
I saw him across the avenue, as all the others tried to light my fire
Yet, it was only he who had the spark
Using any charms that I had acquired over the years, I smiled and declined their lights
Gazing both ways, I made a dash towards him
Slight breeze blew my skirt around my thighs
The slit in the fabric on the right side, was nothing compared to another soft parting of mine
We laughed as you took me in your arms on that avenue
Our lips met and I knew my spark was reignited by you
Light my fire, baby….
