Tony Ward had his first monograph published in 1998 with the publication of Obsessions, a black and white coffee table book with introduction by renowned photography critic, A.D. Coleman. The publisher was Editions Stemmle, based in Zurich, Switzerland. Obsessions was followed by Orgasm a black and white masterpiece published by La Musardine, a french publishing house based in Paris. La Musardine specializes in the publication of erotic books, poetry and literature. Claude Bard, publisher at La Musardine was the first to print two volumes of the artists work. Orgasm and Orgasm XL were printed in the years 2000 and 2002. Last Gasp of San Francisco was the U. S. distributor.
The photographer signed a second contract in 2002 with publisher Editions Stemmle, to publish Tableaux Vivants, a book of narrative erotica based on the theme of a traditional 19th century parlor game. The introduction was written by former Gagosian Gallery director Rick Wester, currently the owner of Rick Wester Fine Arts, New York. Editions Braus was the first German publisher of Tony Ward’s work when they published Best of Erotica in the Spring of 2005, with introduction by German author, Thor Kunkel. Wasteland, a documentary project of the largest fetish party held twice yearly in Amsterdam, The Netherlands is Ward’s most recent publication. Wasteland was internationally released by Alixe of La Musardine, Paris in 2010.
